In 2003, Maurice Giraud purchased the Château of Pommard just as it was celebrating its 277th anniversary. The new owner quickly restored and rearranged the château to bring back the magnificence of its past. A dining room was installed in the former salons and the front terrace was completely redone. The paving, balustrades and water drainage system are made of Rocheville stone extracted from the Châtillonnais area. The tasting cellars of the famous Pommard wines are paved in Rose de Bourgogne, a rare stone excavated in the underground quarry of Nuits-St-Georges, a few kilometres away. The flooring of the reception rooms is graced with an antiqued Corton stone.
