Michel Babouillard's quarry is located next to the Coulmier-le-Sec village in the Chatillonnais region.
Its stone, Coulmier or Lanvignes, is worldwide famous. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, for various applications such as : floor tiling, paving, wall coverings, chimneys, staircases, etc.
Discover the different professions of the stone industry. Thanks to modern equipment things have evolved for these trades, once classed as «hard labour». Today, workers and artisans benefit from improved labour conditions. However stone is a demanding material. For proper treatment it requires competence and know-how, both of which are slowly disappearing.
