Certified by historical monuments, ALLEGRI did an apprenticeship in sculpture with Michel Roetzer.
In 1998, after taking on jobs as stone cutter for different companies, he devoted himself entirely to sculpture.
Among the major restoration sites he has worked on: Cathedrals of Sens, Nevers, and Amiens, Palace of the Dukes and States General of Burgundy, the Louvre and Tuileries Gardens.
Discover the different professions of the stone industry. Thanks to modern equipment things have evolved for these trades, once classed as «hard labour». Today, workers and artisans benefit from improved labour conditions. However stone is a demanding material. For proper treatment it requires competence and know-how, both of which are slowly disappearing. It is imperative that we train future generations to carry on the excellent work of our forefathers: stone cutters, sculptors, processors, quarrymen, layers or roofers….
